The developers of the popular playback software VLC media player inform that the program in the two versions 3.0.12 and 3.0.13 does not update itself automatically under Windows. The problem crept in with version 3.0.12, but was only recognized with the rollout of version 3.0.13.

Update will not be installed automatically installed

Version 3.0.11 and older versions as well as other platforms are not affected by the problem. The creators simply state that there is an error in the automatic update process.

The update is downloaded and checked for its integrity, but then incorrectly not installed.

Users of version 3.0.12 and 3.0.13 under Windows are advised to download the update to version 3.0.14 manually.

If the download has already taken place via the updater, the file is located in the Temp folder. To do this, enter% TEMP% in the address bar of the Explorer and then start vlc-3.0.14-win32.exe or vlc-3.0.14-win64.exe.

Which of the two files is on the system depends on whether Windows is used in the 32-bit or 64-bit version.
