Deutsche Telekom is continuing its fiber optic expansion and this time is devoting itself to companies in commercial areas that can obtain fast fiber optic connections with up to 100 Gbit/s through pre-marketing. The connection fee for owners of the building of 672.23 euros does not currently apply.

Almost 9,700 companies in 77 commercial areas in 74 municipalities are to benefit from the current fiber optic expansion. The expansion should take place this year after a sufficient number of customers have been found within the framework of the pre-marketing. Deutsche Telekom assumes that 30 percent of the companies conclude a contract for a fiber optic connection. If the quota of 30 percent is not achieved, the fiber optic network will not be expanded and no claims can be made for a connection to the fiber optic network.

There is no connection fee

You can show interest in a fiber optic connection on a Deutsche Telekom campaign page . As Deutsche Telekom explains in its announcement, the companies will be connected at no additional cost. Usually, the network operator charges a one-time connection fee of 672.23 euros.

Telekom relies on trenching

For the current project, more than 600 kilometers of optical fiber are to be laid using the trenching process as soon as the required pre-marketing rate has been reached. The trenching process is time-saving, sustainable and cost-effective to expand. In addition, it leads to shorter construction times and thus less burdens for the residents. With the trenching process, depending on the method chosen (micro/mini/macro), slots with a width of 2 to 30 cm and a depth of 10 to 50 cm are cut in the asphalt with a rock wheel/chain cutter instead of digging up the road with excavators must.

The fiber optic offer for companies ranges from asymmetrical 100 Mbit/s to symmetrical connections with 1 Gbit/s in the downlink and uplink. Deutsche Telekom even offers direct transmission paths with up to 100 Gbit/s.
