Klopp for the first time against FC Barcelona

DW: the Europa League final of 2016 Champions League final 2017 – now still at FC Barcelona beat and you would be the third Time in four years in a major European final.

Jürgen Klopp: Really? Impressive, Yes. But we’ll see. Barcelona is a damn good football team. But that’s how it is in sports, if you’re here, do you want to win. We are certainly not a Dreamless sleep. It is certainly not so that someone thinks: “Oh, of Liverpool, let us sell.” I’ve never played in a competitive game against Barcelona, but I have watched many other teams, like against Barcelona, lost. I’ve always thought it would be interesting to play one against the Team and try it out. And now we try it!

What will decide the game?

Really brave! The defense work and the courage to play his own football. The big challenge in this game is to have a large potential for Frustration. When Barcelona is in possession of the ball, are you separate from the Ball – you have to accept that. But there will be moments when we have the Ball, and then we have to radiate immediately to danger.

What is the club more important – to win the Champions League or the championship in the Premier League?

A popular question currently. Friday night is about to win a Premier League game [editors ‘ note: Liverpool the game against Huddersfield is 5:0], won on Wednesday then the game in the Champions League. Saturday after that it is back to the Premier League, on Tuesday to, in turn, the king class. We need to retrieve in each game our best services. But if you ask people, the answer is obvious: the title in the League.

Last year they were very close to win the title in the Premier class.

I was already six times with a Team in a final, and I six times lost. But that doesn’t make me a broken Person or something. For me, that means life, to try it again and again. If only winners can survive, we can wrap up all of them. But you have to give it your all. And we have done that each Time. So I can live with that. It’s not just the best days of my life, you can make it in my Top Five. But still, they are very important experiences for me, and I want to use it for the future. If God needs me to show that someone is losing six finals in a row and he is trying it is actually also yet a seventh Time, then I am the perfect Person for it. No idea who decided it, but, obviously, this is a funny guy.

You stand out in a way other trainer colleagues.

I happen to have gave way some: I can talk like a waterfall and I don’t care about what other people think about me. I am very interested in other people, but I don’t care what you think about me. This leads in many situations, I stay calm, if 90 percent of the people are nervous. That’s maybe the difference. The like up-to-date important features. But 200 years ago I would have slept perhaps on the road or 500 years ago, before the king danced.

Are you really “The Normal One”, so the normal type, as you have presented here in Liverpool?

I see myself as a normal Person. I have a lot more questions than answers. You mean: How can I be special or extraordinary? I know a little more about football than most of the others. That’s true. That makes me in this thing, maybe especially. And that is my happiness, that my particular skills are currently in demand. I know some of the hockey coach. The work is hard, five times more than I, but earn only four percent of what I get. I would not be happy, I would be crazy. But I’m not smart enough to take exactly too important.

Which of your properties is particularly important in your work?

My interest for other people. This has always been so. This has not changed. What has changed, are the problems of the players, Social Media and such things. There is a lot of pressure. The more money there is, the greater the pressure is. The boys are so young and every day be judged and condemned. It is as if you are sitting continuously in a glass house. Everyone is watching you, sees the smallest error. The world decides out there: If you’re good, you’re the Hero. If not, you’re the biggest loser. There is only Black and White. There are no other colors.

Intimate relationship: Jürgen Klopp, with striker Mohamed Salah

I’m early to become a father, so I learned early to take care of younger people. And I’m still doing that today. The players are now younger than my sons, and I love it still. The boys have all the world-class potential. Not all world-class professionals, but you have what it takes. And my job is to make you actually to the world-class. 80 percent of this you already have, but the last 20 percent are critical. And that’s my Job.

If one of your players goes abroad, what is your advice?

Be open and learn the language as fast as you can! What is here in England, great: You speak three words in English, and the Englishman makes it a set. You want to understand you, really. The most Important thing is: Be open and learn, learn, learn! Listening to young people probably do not like. But, Learning is actually learn from life.

You are one of three candidates for the award for the German football Ambassador. What do you think of this idea?

I think it’s important that people should use their Position in the football, in order to act as a kind of Ambassador, but it must be not a title, that should happen without you think about it. The Best part to live in England, is for me to see that English and German are similar and simultaneously so different. This is incredible. I wanted to live abroad. Now I’m in England and it is a very, very interesting experience.

With the Brexit, and all the current events, it doesn’t look so, but the European Union has actually led to, that we are come to us all closer. I don’t like this border idea. What I is the most love that we can travel wherever we want. In the EU everything is not perfect, but I love the idea behind it.
