Frankfurt celebrates new town with a Feast

The construction fences to Frankfurt’s new center have already fallen in may. Now the big inauguration party is held. To be the Festival at the weekend (28. to 30.09.) around half a Million visitors expected.

    of the largest old towns in Germany. Buildings from different eras have shaped the image, including Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and classicism. The reconstruction cost around 200 million euros.

    Visitors can now stroll over the historic Royal route, between the Cathedral and the Römer, Frankfurt’s famous town hall. Earlier, the newly-appointed kings and emperors were here to celebrate after they were crowned in the Cathedral.

    As 2005 began, the debate about which historical building should be rebuilt, “the Golden scale”. This magnificent merchant’s house was built in 1618/19, opposite the Cathedral, at the entrance to the coronation route.

    Builder Abraham van Hamel. The rich sugar-Baker and spice merchant had his office and residence in the best location cost a lot.     The fountain in the chicken market, however, is dedicated to a different writer, the Frankfurt dialect Poet, Friedrich Stoltze (1816 -1891). His birthplace was in the vicinity. After the air raids of 1944, the well was implemented from the destroyed chicken market and elsewhere. Now he has returned to his ancestral place.

Since may, the Dom-Römer-called Area is already accessible to the public and since then, the visitors flock. Up on the “Red house” can be visited all the buildings with the wheelchair. Often you must use a side entrance, or even a ramp will be required.
