As the reason for the call for a boycott of the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) call the culture of people that manage rights violations against Palestinians. In a letter released on Friday (07.09.2018) by the British newspaper “The Guardian”, calling on the artists of the European broadcasting Union (EBU) to award the Event to another country. “They (the EBU, note of editor) it should cancel the operation of the contest by Israel (…) and him in another country with a better human rights record of publishing” the claim. “To Palestinian freedom, justice and equal rights, there should be no normalcy with a state that denied them their basic rights.”

Among the 140 signatories of the letter are numerous pro-Palestinian activists and supporters of anti-Israel campaign, BDS, (Boycott, divestments and sanctions), including Pink Floyd co-founder Roger Waters, the British film-maker Ken Loach and Mike Leigh, to the Finnish Director Aki Kaurismäki and the actress Julie Christie. Singer Helmut Lotti, musician Brian Eno, as well as six Israeli artists are on the list.
Calls for boycotts of the BDS against Israel, there are always. They are controversial because critics see crossed the border to anti-Semitism. Similar boycott calls have had it recently, also in Germany. Rock legend Roger Waters is considered the most prominent advocate of BDS. He is accused, with his harsh criticism of Israel’s government in anti-Semitism off – he denies the charge of anti-Semitic propaganda.
