DFL: No League games abroad

Despite the global expansion efforts of the Bundesliga, DFL closes-in-chief, Christian Seifert, a host of individual games abroad, categorically. No further fragmentation of the game plan as planned.

“We will never play a point game outside of Germany,” said the managing Director of the German football League, Christian Seifert, on Tuesday at the International football Congress in Frankfurt.

The Spanish League had recently announced that in the future, a year, a game in the US, unsubscribe. This is for the League out of respect for the Major League Soccer (MLS) is not an Option, stressed Seifert: “This is a line we will not cross.” There is no need to promote football in the United States.

Many clubs already travel in the USA

The Bundesliga has extended its presence abroad in recent years. This includes regular summer trips to the top clubs such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund or Schalke 04 in the United States or Asia.

Seifert also stressed that a further diversification of the Bundesliga game plan at this moment is not planned. “There will be no ten different kick-off times as in other leagues”, he reiterated. Currently, the games in the German upper house will be kicked off to seven different kick-off times in four days, including five in a season on Monday night.
