Pioneer France

France has prohibited the first European country the public Wearing of the Burka and Nikab. The ban is in place since April 2011. The Netherlands with limited ban

In the Netherlands, the Parliament has prohibited the veiling of 2016. New: Denmark

Since 1. August 2018 is banned the Full face veil in Denmark. At the end of may 2018, the Danish Parliament had brought in with 75 Yes votes to 30 votes against the bill on the way. It must reckon with fines of up to the equivalent of 135 euros, in the case of repetition can increase the fine by tenfold.

Discussions in other countries

In many European countries, there was or there is discussion of a veiling ban, including Germany, Switzerland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Norway. In Spain, there were local concealment prohibitions in Parts of Catalonia, which have picked up the dishes again. In Italy there is no discussion of a ban on the Full face veil, because there are already since the 1970s, a General prohibition to wear clothing which makes identification difficult.
