The seven members of the jury have seen since the tender beginning of the title, between October 2016 and the 12. By September 2017, when the Shortlist is announced, published, or are yet to appear.

The views of the world expand

“One of the most important skills of literature is the Vast expanse of our world,” said jury spokeswoman Katja Gasser the selection. The is in times, in which the angle of view seemed to constrict more and more, especially important. “The Longlist of 2017, is an expression of the attempt to reflect the diversity of the current German-language literary landscape. On different literary answers to life, the state of the world, the people find themselves with the books: the Political as explicitly non-political, traditionally Narrated as voice-centric and Risk-taking, lyrical, Woven like realistic Knitted. All the books have in common is that they have pricked the Jury one way or the other and bitten touched in the best sense of the word. Perhaps the view of the world is with the books on the Longlist in 2017, something greater, more.”
