The native Englishman was one of the most renowned conductors of his Generation. Now, Sir Jeffrey Tate, since 2009, chief conductor of the Hamburg Symphony orchestra has died at the age of 74 years.

Sir Jeffrey Tate died in Bergamo, Italy, of a heart attack, a spokesman for the Hamburg Symphony orchestra announced. The Symphony orchestra were shocked “by the completely unexpected death” deeply. “The unique voice of Jeffrey Tate’s is silenced and will sound in the hearts, in the thoughts and in the memory of numerous admirers, and joy in the world forever,” it said. And further: “His music has made the world a better, and we are for the hours, days and years, we were able to spend with Sir Jeffrey, infinitely and unspeakably grateful.” He had the orchestra like no other, shaped.

In April knighted

Sir Jeffrey Tate was since 2009, chief conductor of the Hamburg Symphony orchestra. He was one of the most respected and versatile conductors of his Generation. In addition to the music of Richard Wagner’s dramas were the works of Mozart and Richard Strauss’ emphasis in his diverse Repertoire. Only at the 19. He worked as an assistant to Herbert von Karajan in Salzburg and James Levine in New York, before he worked as an assistant to Pierre Boulez in 1976, the so-called century-Ring for the Bayreuth festival. Tate was considered one of the most important interpreters of the music of Richard Wagner. He conducted the first complete Paris “Ring” of the post-war period and the first complete “Ring” – production in Australia.
