BlackBerry sees sales fall prior to release of the Passport smartphone

BlackBerry has over the past three months some 2.4 million smartphones sold. Thus, sales decreased compared to last quarter and last year, in the run-up to the release of his long-awaited Passport smartphone.

Although BlackBerry is not about talking, it is obvious that there are BlackBerry fans who purchase a new smartphone have postponed; in June, the company already publicly known in september with the new models, of which the Passport is one. The other is the Classic, a successor of the Bold.

The Passport came last week in Germany and France, but any first sell them are not in the latest quarterly figures. The smartphone with a square of 4.5″screen, that within a few weeks also available in the Netherlands, is the most important smartphone release from the Canadian company this year.

With the number of 2.4 million sales of smartphones dropped, the sales of BlackBerry compared to the previous quarter, when 2.6 million and compared to the same period a year ago, when the 3.7 million smartphones traded.

BlackBerry is still a loss, but the loss drops. The turnover was equivalent to about 720 million euros, of which around 46 percent from hardware. The company hopes to have about a half a year break-even to run.
