BitTorrent has started offering the first paid muziekbundels. Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke provides for a fee of $ 6, or 4,73 euro, a new solo album and a video clip via the p2p network.

The solo album from Yorke, Tomorrow’s Modern Boxes ‘ is presented in a ‘bundle’. These ‘containers’ are by BitTorrent developed for artists via the bittorrent protocol music efficiently distribute. Also movies and series can in this way be combined, but up until now, only relatively unknown artists use of these bundles. By the unexpected release of a new album from the Radiohead frontman appears to BitTorrent, however, to get more attention for his concept.

For the first time can be a muziekbundel be purchased directly from the BitTorrent. The album, consisting of eight tracks, and costs 6 dollars, approximately 4,73 euro. After payment via credit card or Paypal, the user can control the tracks directly through a torrentclient bringing. BitTorrent receives 10 percent of the purchase price. A single and accompanying music video are free to download and on the mp3-tracks with a bitrate of 320kbit/s is no drm.

Nigel Godrich, producer of Radiohead, let me know that he and Yorke want to look at or paid access to content via BitTorrent bundles can be successful. Yorke together with Radiohead already an album independently released on the internet, where the buyer is the music free or for a chosen amount of the purchase, could retrieve. Also agitated the Radiohead-singer last year at the music service Spotify because it is still in the hands of the traditional music industry and artists, not enough freedom and too low a fee would give.
