Nvidia has Friday morning two new video cards announced, the GTX 970 and 980. Both cards feature a gpu based on the Maxwell architecture and are baked on 28nm. The new gpus have a significantly lower tdp than their predecessors.
Nvidia had Maxwell for the first show in the midrange graphics cards GTX 750 and 750 Ti. The GTX 970 and 980 are the first high-end graphics cards based on the Maxwell architecture, and combine speed with low power consumption.
The low energy consumption and higher performance made possible by more efficient scheduling and better geheugencompressie. As a result, a GTX 980, which features 2048 Cuda cores, faster than a GTX 780 Ti, 2816 cores, as evidenced by our benchmarks. Also, the clock speed and the boostclock with 1050MHZ and 1178MHz lower than its big brother. The memory size and speed are the same.
Both reference designs come with a dvi connector, three displayport 1.2 connectors and hdmi 2.0. Especially to that last possibility was awaited by owners of 4k televisions through hdmi 1.4 at a refresh rate of 30Hz are limited.
