Asus announces the thin Zenbook with Core M processor

Asus has during the IFA in Berlin a new ultrabook the Zenbook series announced. The Zenbook UX305 is thinner than its predecessor and gets a screen with even higher resolution. The UX305 is the first Asus laptop with a Core M cpu, based on the Broadwell architecture.

The Zenbook UX305 has like previous Zenbooks, a wedge-shaped design and is only 12,3 mm thick. The small thickness is undoubtedly made possible by the fuel-efficient Core M processor based on Intel 14nm Broadwell architecture and low energy. The Core M processors are not officially released by Intel was announced, and so it is also not yet known which variant of the processor in the 1.2-kilogram lightweight aluminum housing of the UX305.

Compared to the previous generation Zenbook, the screen of the UX305 also an upgrade. The for 13.3″panel now features a ‘maximum’ resolution of 3200×1800 pixels. This seems to Asus to indicate that, just as in the UX301, also cheaper versions of the UX305 with a lower screen resolution will become available. Finally, the press release that the ssd capacity of 256GB features, other specifications such as the size of the memory are not listed.

Asus has let us know that it is not yet known when or if the Zenbook UX305 comes to the Netherlands and how much the laptop will cost. The introductory price of the most expensive version of the UX301 was 1800 euro.
