A vulnerability that is being abused for ransomware to install on the nas systems of Synology, is already in december of the poem. Who DiskStation Manager has been updated to the latest version, runs no risk, promises the company.

Last week it came to light that the nas systems of Synology to be affected by ransomware that files encrypted and converted 260 euros to bitcoins demands for the files to decrypt them. Now seems to be his only non-updated systems are vulnerable to the ransomware. The bug that is being exploited for the installation of the ransomware, is the december poem, it is apparent from an e-mail that Synology users sent and that Security.nl in his possession.

It is not yet known to what bug exactly. Version 5.0 of Synology’s DiskStation Manager is in any case never vulnerable; for versions 4.0, 4.1 and 4.3 are patches available. For users whose files have been encrypted, as far as we know no solution yet.
