Starbucks comes with wireless charging points in European sites

Coffee chain Starbucks is going to offer them the possibility to phones wireless charging. To this end, the PMA-standard. Initially, only Starbucks locations in San Francisco, but cities in Europe next year, follow.

Starbucks uses Powermat-charging stations from Duracell, which will be built in tables. The roll-out begins for as far as known directly, but other cities than San Francisco to follow later. Then there are Starbucks stores in Europe at the turn, though it is not known in which cities that will be.

The Powermat-charging stations use the PMA standard. That is a competitor of Qi, at this time, the standard for wireless charging which is the most supported. The Nexus 4 and 5, the LG G3 and Lumia phones only have support for Qi, and will therefore also not be able to be charged in the Starbucks stores. For some phones, including the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5S, can a cover be purchased that the phone is ready for wireless charging.
