Fresh3D, which largely consists of the team that also Appeal to the Outcast has worked, bought in 2013 the rights to the game back from Atari. Not much later, Yann Robert, Franck Sauer and Yves Grolet, the trio that Appeal, the director argued about the development of Outcast, that they have a new version of the game.

The original game was in many ways ahead of his time. That was all from a third-person-camera position politely. It took then more many years before several other great games, such as Halo and Knights of the Old Republic, elements from Outcast were using.
