A vulnerability in the Samsung Ativ S smartphone has the attackers made possible for the first time paid games for Windows Phone 8 free to install on any Windows Phone device. By now, ten games cracked.

Under the cracked games include big titles such as Fifa 13, Angry Birds Seasons and Asphalt 7, report WP-Seven. The crack of the games work on a Ativ S from Samsung, the only Windows Phone 8 smartphone to be interop unlocked, allowing developers to have access to deeper layers of the operating system. How to crack games works exactly, is not clear.

The games are distributed as .xap-file via a tool in the sdk on any Windows Phone 8 device to be set, so also on the Windows Phones from HTC and the Lumia’s from Nokia. That requires that devices are registered as ontwikkelaarstoestel. With a free account you can up to two apps to a device push.

It is the first time that games that actually cost money, without having to pay on Windows Phone 8 devices can be put. Windows Phone 8 came out last year and is now on its third update. On Android and iOS, piracy of games is much wider spread.
