The French telecommunications company Alcatel-Lucent, network infrastructure delivers, would intend to 15,000 employees to say goodbye. In addition, there would be 5000 jobs are to be created, which is the number of missing jobs at about 10,000.

Alcatel-Lucent has the loss of the job itself has not yet been confirmed, but the French newspapers Les Echos and Le Figaro to write about the layoff. In addition to the scrapping of 15,000 jobs, there would be 5000 new employees are hired. It is not clear in which corner the redundancies and whether there are redundancies will fall, but given the number of missing jobs, that seems quite probable.

It is not clear what the consequences are for the Dutch branch of Alcatel-Lucent. In home country France, 900 jobs will disappear and a number of factories to be closed. Of the redundancies, there would be 4100 in Europe, the Middle East and Africa fall. Approximately 3800 jobs would be in Asia be deleted and 2100 in North and South America.

The layoff is not unexpected: it is already some time not work well with Alcatel-Lucent. Since 2006, when the company was formed from the merger of Alcatel and Lucent, the company has struggled to make a profit. The company must compete with Ericsson, Huawei and Nokia. The latter would plan to use Alcatel-Lucent to take over, so that Nokia would be able to compete on the market for network infrastructure.
