Canonical will Mir integration in Ubuntu 13.10

Ubuntu 13.10 will, by default, are equipped with the still under construction Mir-displayserver. Until now would Canonicals successor for more than thirty years old X.org only in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS to be included as a standard displayserver.

The upcoming Ubuntu version, which in October, will Mir be able to run in conjunction with the open-source drivers from Intel, the Nouveau drivers for Nvidia-gu’s and Radeon drivers for AMD hardware. Within Mir the parts will XMir and Unity 7 to the further interface. On Unity 8, which is fully native for Mir is being developed, is still being worked on and will be possible only in Ubuntu 14.10 visible.

According to Ubuntu’s Mir in a short time has grown from an experimental displayserver to a fast and high quality part for the Ubuntu-desktop. Software is still a X.org Server needs in order to function will be in Ubuntu 13.10 to be able to rely on a full X. org-displayserver. This fallback code, however, will be removed in Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, the version from Canonical for five years of support.

Mir will be short-term in the testimages from Ubuntu 13.10 to be processed. Also, there are instructions appeared on how the new displayserver manual can be installed on existing Ubuntu installations.
