Public Ministry is investigating ddos attack on banks

The High Tech Crime Team of the National criminal Investigation Service is investigating, in command of the Public prosecution service, the ddos attacks where the networks of banks and the payment system, iDeal in the Netherlands are facing. The attack on ING is over.

Banks do standard declaration to attacks on their infrastructure and ING against Nu.nl indicated this after the attack on Friday also. The Public Ministry has in anticipation already commissioned the High Tech Crime Team of the National criminal Investigation Service to take the attack to investigate, writes the NOS.

The Dutch payment provider iDeal and ING were Friday with downtime and the Dutch Association of Banks announced that this was due to a ddos-attack came. Also Saturday morning, customers could ING, but in dribs and drabs online banking and from iDeal use. Saturday afternoon was ING known that the attacks, at least temporarily passed, but that the customers still affected were able to experience. The bank says work to fix all of the issues.

One of the ways in which the attackers the banks offline tried to get, was due to repeatedly attempt to log in to online banking. That takes more server capacity than just sending packets, as is usually the case in a ddos attack. That showed a spokesman of the Dutch Association of Banks Friday to Tweakers. The whole week were banks with problems with online banking, but it is not known whether all of the attack attributable.
