Samsung has a new model in its Note line announced: the Galaxy Note 8.0. The 8″tablet is just like the other Note devices comes with S Pen stylus, and contains the same Exynos 4412 quadcore-soc as in the last year released Note 10.1.

The small tablet seems to look at a large version of Samsungs Galaxy S III smartphone. It is remarkable that Samsung for a combination of capacitive and physical buttons at the bottom of the screen has been chosen in place of the onscreen buttons on the Note 10.1. Inside seems to be the Note 8.0 will be roughly equal to the Note 10.1: it has the same Exynos 4412-soc at 1.6 GHz, 2GB memory, and storage capacity can be expanded with a micro-sd card. On the side is a slot where the S Pen stylus in stored.

The 8″screen uses Samsung’s own pls technology supplemented with a special layer that works with the S Pen. The resolution of the screen is 1280×800 pixels. Samsung speaks in the press release still of a good brightness and strong contrast. The values that are called, respectively, 160 nits and a contrast ratio of 200:1, however, are relatively low in comparison with the competition and the screens that Samsung used in previous tablets.

The Note 8.0″ is running Android 4.1.2, supplemented by Samsung’s own TouchWiz interface. The included apps are for a large part similar to that of the larger Note 10.1, such as S Note and S Pen. In addition, Samsung has some familiar features built in, including Air View, in which the tip of the stylus is already registered, as this is just above the screen, and Multi Window, which allows multiple applications on the screen simultaneously. In addition, Samsung also has a few new apps including a special optimized version of Flipboard, and the app Awesome Note

The 16GB variant of the tablet, presumably a version with only wi-fi support, in the second quarter of this year in stores for 399 euros.
