Panasonic has the openingskeynote of the CES as an opportunity for the first 4k oled-tv to reveal one which is made according to the new and potentially cheaper production method. A working prototype is currently on the Panasonic stand will be shown.

For the production of current, larger oled, but lcd panels use large moederglas’, or the glassubstraten which the transistors and in the case of oled, the organic material deposited. This production method has larger oled panels are currently many failures. At the so-called roll-to-roll method that Panasonic wants to use for oleds, the organic material can be printed. This is a potentially cheaper method of production.

The prototype has a screen diagonal of 56″ and is approximately 0.5″-thick. The sample has a relatively wide inactive edge, and the tv has a narrow frame of aluminum. The panel has a front glass plate, as with the new Viera ZT60 plasma series. The protoype is on a metal stand, in which also the wiring is processed. The electronics is due to the shallow housing, probably remotely located.

Panasonic has no date or even year given that it thinks the new oled tv’s on the basis of the production method ready for production. The expectation is that the first oled-tvs from Panasonic so around 2015, to purchase will. Panasonic would be for the development to work with Sony, which also has a 4k oled tv at the CES shows.
