No Nokia navigation for WP8 phones from HTC and Samsung in the Netherlands

Nokia brings its navigation app for American, British, and Canadian users of HTC and Samsung smartphones with Windows Phone 8. The app is not yet available for Dutch users of Windows Phones that are not Nokia.

Users of the HTC Windows Phone 8X and Samsung Ativ S can download the app from the Windows Phone Store, or from a memory card sideloading. The application is not yet available for users in the Netherlands are available: presumably paying Microsoft Nokia for the use of the app to non-Lumia phones, and there is only an agreement concerning the United States, Britain and Canada.

As the publisher of the application is not Nokia, Navteq Europe. Navteq is kaartenleverancier and part of Nokia. The resolution of the HTC 8X and Samsung Ativ S, 1280×720 pixels, is to be supported, despite the fact that Nokia has no phones with this resolution. The app takes 6MB of space and is standard on Nokia’s own Lumia phones. Microsoft had earlier promised that free navigation will be available for Windows Phone 8, but the group did not yet to that promise.

The application is not finished yet: Nokia Drive+ is still in beta. In a later stage, as My Commute functionality added, whereby the app automatically checks whether there is traffic on the routes that the user has many drives. Also offers the app without having to launch alternatives to using a live tile. Drive+ Beta provides already offline maps and navigation with voice prompts.
