Canon brings in april next year for a new firmware for its EOS 5D Mark III dslr that’s clean hdmi video out and support for auto focus with a maximum aperture of f/8 is added.

The addition of clean hdmi video out makes the EOS 5D Mark III extra interesting to be deployed for professional filmklussen. Not only is the video signal outputted without the overlay of cameraicoontjes of the live view image, but also the image quality is higher due to the compression of the two color channels 4:2:2 compression, instead of the usual 4:2:0 encoding is used.

This 4:2:2 video with an external recorder to be recorded, but it is also possible to have this signal at the same time to view on an external monitor. The EOS 1D X had all over the ‘clean hdmi’-video-out option. Also, at the same time with the output of the video signal over hdmi, the video stream is stored on the internal memory card.

In addition, the dslr with the new firmware in april, support for the focus with a maximum aperture of f/8. This is especially useful for sports and wildlife photographers that have a teleconverter to use with their telephoto lenses for more range. For example, an f/4 lens with a 2x teleconverter.

Recently brought Canon a new firmware for the EOS 1D X f/8 af capability. That firmware update also contained the addition of red flashing af points, but this feature is now not mentioned at the announcement of the new EOS 5D Mark III firmware.
