Philips has been two years in his 9-series televisions use of a Moth-Eye anti-glare filter for the panel. Sharp, that the patents on the technology owned, used until now for its Aquos tvs mainstream films with a matte finish. The fact that Sharp at the Ceatec trade show an Aquos model with Moth-Eye filter shows, it is an indication that Sharp the technology next year, also will use in its Aquos-tv-series.

The new Moth-eye filter, that Sharp now at the Ceatec 2012 show in Japan shows, the reflection of light drastically reducing, and at the same time, the contrast and the color reproduction is retained. Also the viewing angles would be with the new filter to be improved. According to Sharp, the schermreflectie of the Aquos tvs with Moth-eye filter is only 0.1 percent.

Current, matt antireflectiefilms for televisions can be effective, the reflection of incident light to counteract, but have the disadvantage that the contrast decreases, while the current, shiny antireflectielagen less effective in preventing reflections.
