Samsung would reportedly this year again a Nexus phone for Google to manufacture. The new Galaxy Nexus would be rumored to be the same size as its predecessor, but with a better screen and better cameras.

Samsung fansite SamMobile posted the specifications of the new handset online, though it is not entirely clear where the information comes from. The website has in the past, however, more frequently on the right had about Samsung business. The new Nexus phone from Samsung would be internally known under the codename ‘Superior’ with model number GT-i9260; the current Galaxy Nexus has a number i9250.

The unit would still have a Super Amoled screen with a diagonal of 4.65″, but it would now go to the HD performance of the panel with the PenTile-matrix exchanged for a rgb-subpixelrangschikking. Because there are more subpixels would be present, especially text, appear sharper.

The specs speak further of an 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 1.9-megapixel camera for video calling. The current Nexus has cameras with resolutions of 5 megapixels and 1.3 megapixels. In addition there is now also a micro-sd slot so the storage capacity is cheap, can be extended.

What type of processor for the new Galaxy Nexus is being used is not known; only that it is a dual-core design with a clock speed of 1.5 GHz based on the Cortex A9-processor core. Possible candidates are, therefore, the Omap 4460 from Texas Instruments, which is also in the Galaxy Nexus, or Samsung’s own Exynos 421x-chip. Texas Instruments also has the Omap 4470 in its portfolio that many on the 4460 seems to be, but a better gpu.

In the specificatielijstje top “’12 11”, which may indicate a release in november. Last year was the Nexus device also around that time released. The step in specifications compared to the Galaxy Nexus modest, certainly on processorvlak. That may mean that Google and Samsung with the device in a different price segment have in mind. A more expensive Nexus would then possibly by another manufacturer can be made.

Rumors about multiple Nexus devices emerged earlier this year, and this week, reports the Japanese site Android Noodles that are on the roadmap of telecomprivder NTT Docomo three Nexus devices from Samsung, LG and Sony. That message is, however, no one of the involved parties have confirmed.
