Nokia sees smartphoneverkopen further collapse

Nokia last quarter, four million Lumia smartphones sold. The total number of smartphones that came out around ten million, a decline of almost 40 percent compared to a year back. Nokia makes a billion euro loss.

The number of four million sold Lumia’s global sales. Nokia sells four devices in that line: the Lumia 900, 800, 710 and 610. The number of smartphones that Nokia sells is already a few years in a descending line; the manufacturer saw the number of sold smartphones until 2010 to rise sharply, partly because of the then director Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo sales opkrikte through deals with providers and minimum margins.

Now Windows Phone 40 percent of the number of smartphones that Nokia sells. The other 60 percent is mostly Symbian and a small part of MeeGo Harmattan, which runs on the Nokia N9.

Nokia posted a loss of 1 billion euros, as in the previous quarter. The manufacturer expects that the third quarter is still bad will go on, because Windows Phone 8 only in the fourth quarter to come out, something that Nokia described as ‘product transition’. Windows Phone 8 should be a catalyst for Lumia smartphones”, says Nokia.
