Activision Blizzard has presented the figures of the second quarter of 2012 and that were better than what stock market analysts predicted. The good figures are due to the sale of games like Skylanders and Diablo III. WoW to lose players.

“During the first six months of the year we had the three best-selling games in both North America and Europe with Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and of course Diablo III,” said Bobby Kotick, ceo of the publisher, during a conference call.

Kotick is especially proud of Skylanders, a game for which additional dolls sold separately. “Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure, a series that a year ago didn’t exist, was the best selling game during the first half of the year as we’re the puppets include. Skylanders did it in the US and Europe are also better than the best-selling series of action figures.”

Also Diablo III is performing well. According to Mike Morhaime, ceo of Blizzard Entertainment, there are now 10 million copies of the rpg sold. These include the 1.2 million copies that players are free if they are a World of Warcraft Annual Pass purchase.

Morhaime gave, moreover, that the number of paying members of World of Warcraft fell again. Where at the end of the first quarter of the 10.2 million players a monthly subscription, had that number at the end of the second quarter declined to 9.1 million. Especially Asian players left the game links are, according to Morhaime. Another explanation is that many WoW players switching to Diablo III. “We see that a number of players to have a break for World of Warcraft times to Diablo III to play.”

It is a pattern that Morhaime recognizes. “We see increasingly happen at the end of the life cycle of an expansion. We saw a decline in the months before World of Warcraft: Cataclysm appeared, and a strong resurgence when the Cataclysm came to market.” The director expected that the players of their subscription and renew as soon as World of Warcraft: Mists of Pandaria is on the market. This fourth expansion for the mmog is from the 25th of september in the shop.
