Sony has accidentally on his website, posted a photograph of a new lens for Sony Alpha dslr’s. The new lens has the popular range of 18-135mm. Sony has the offending footage now removed from the site.

The footage is of the new lens was at the same time with the introduction of the new Alpha A57 camera, which will be on 13 march, at the Sony site. The footage was shortly afterwards removed, but Digicam.info copied the picture and has this now been published.

The image shows a relatively short lens, with a range of 18-135mm, which is due to the use of the SAM in-lens focus motor probably is intended as cheap kit lens. The more expensive Sony lenses, for faster auto-focus, make use of SSM technology. With the new lens complements the Sony a hole in its product range. Sony has already introduced a 16-105mm lens, but with the more expensive lens is the focus via a screw.

Both Canon and Nikon already have a 18-135mm lens, but only the Canon has optical image stabilization. The 18-135mm lens from Nikon has, therefore, also a practical way for the 18-105mm VR lens, though the first is still sold. Sony is the image stabilization on the other hand built into the body. Of the three mentioned brands is Sony the only one who is 18-135mm lens equips with a metal lens mount. It is not known when Sony lens officially introduces.
