Archos focuses new 7″tablet on children

Archos, the Child Pad tablet will be announced which, as the name suggests, is aimed at use by children. The tablet has a 7″screen, equipped with Android 4.0 with a child-friendly interface and costs 99 euros.

Archos has the 7″tablet features the latest Android version, Ice Cream Sandwich. The manufacturer has the OS, however, features a simple, colourful interface with 28 pre-loaded games and apps on the home screen, including Angry Birds, Pig Rush and Flight Frenzy.

The Child Pad has no access to the App Market of Android, but, children have access to the Kids Apps section of the AppsLib Store. This kids section contains 14 categories with a total of 10,000 apps. Archos, the tablet is equipped with parental control settings and internet filters. Both are provided by the company Editions Profil.

The tablet features a 7″screen with unknown resolution. Also, it is not known whether the screen is capacitive or resistive, but it will probably be the last variant. The Child Pad has 1GB available for storage and has a 1GHz processor of unknown origin.

The Child Pad will be available in late march available for a suggested retail price of 99 euros.
