Tamron announces 24-70mm f/2.8 lens with image stabilization

Tamron 24-70mm zoom lens with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 across the entire zoom range released. The new lens is suitable for full-frame-dslr’s. He has an ultrasonic focus motor and improved image stabilization.

Tamron is a third party maker of lenses, which is often due to a favorable price are interesting as an alternative to lenses for example, Nikon and Canon. The new lens, with the designation of the SP 24-70mm F/2.8 Di VC USD, is a part of the high-end Super Performance line of Tamron, and is equipped with a silent and fast focus on the basis of Tamrons Ultrasonic Silent Drive technology. It is also possible to at all times focus manually by means of a turn the focus ring.

Also fits the Tamron when the new lens is an improved VC image stabilization system. It was in the previous generation, still uses relatively heavy magnets on the VC lens element and of the fixed coils, and the new system are the coils properly on the particular lens mounted and the magnets are permanently mounted. Tamron already had a older lens for fullframecamera’s in the program, with the same kind of zoom range: the SP AF28-75mm F/2.8 XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) Macro. The wide-angle position thereof is, however, less wide, and this lens has 5mm extra tele range. Also, the older lens has a completely different optical formula, a smaller filter size and no image stabilization. The comparable lenses from Nikon and Canon are neither equipped with image stabilization.

The lens is available for dslr cameras from Canon, Nikon and Sony. Where the 28-75mm f/2.8 lens was still available for Pentax dslrs, is that in this new 24-70mm f/2.8 is no longer the case. Tamron still has no details about availability and suggested retail price be announced.
