OWC sells ssd 480GB for MacBook Air

The American company Other World Computing, a supplier for Apple upgrades, has a Mercury Aura Pro solid state drive for the MacBook Air was announced, with a capacity of 480GB and is a sata-600 interface.

The latest solid state drive from OWC was given the name Mercury Aura Pro and with its msata connector, suitable for Apple’s MacBook Air. The drives were already in capacities of 120 and 240GB available and also drives with a sata-300 interface, were made by OWC sold. The latest drive is a faster sata-600 interface, read speeds up to 511MB/s, while write up to 448MB/s takes place.

The sata-600 drives are only suitable for the latest MacBook Air; the sata-300 drives may also be used in older Air to be incorporated. The new ssd with a capacity of 480GB doubles the price of a MacBook Air almost; in the U.s., purchased from OWC, the cost of the drive 1149 dollars. The storage of the base 13″model is, however, quadrupled. The sata-600 solid-state drives are powered by a SandForce-2200 controller, and in the case of the 480GB drive features 32GB of overprovisioning.
