Toy maker sues Asus ‘Transformer Prime’

The maker of the Transformer-toy dolls, Hasbro, Asus has been sued. The Taiwanese technologiefabrikant would with its Transformer Prime tablet infringed on the trademark of Hasbro. The company requires a verkoopstop in the US.

The indictment of Hasbro against Asus last week submitted to the court in Los Angeles. Hasbro is claiming compensation, the extent of which is still unknown. The group also wishes to see a temporary verkoopstop force for the Transformer Prime tablet, which in the U.S. already on sale.

“Hasbro continues to be brands and products aggressively defend. With the specific actions against Asus that we make today, we show our willingness to see companies to prosecute our intellectual property abuses for private gain”, allows Hasbro to the website PaidContent know.

Asus’ previous tablet was also already a Transformer, but the name of the new model refers to Optimus Prime, a character from the Transformers series. It is hard to imagine that there is consumer confusion between the Optimus Prime toys doll and the tablet, but probably fear Hasbro that there is a proliferation occurs to the use of the brand name.
