Developer Valve has the lwa ber Update released for Team Fortress 2. The patch brings as the main change is that the game immediately free to play. The client is free via Steam download.

The Über Update, which developer Valve released, the biggest update since the game is on the market in 2007 appeared, Valves Robin Walker on website Development. According to Walker plays Valve already with the idea of making TF2 free to play to make since the Mann-conomy update in september 2010 appeared. This gave the game an in-game store where items can be bought for the characters of players. “The data that we got back gave us the idea that TF2 is more successful would be for a free product,” says Walker. “We believe that for multiplayer games in general: the more people play, the more value the game has for the individual player. With more players, there are more servers available in the vicinity and a diverse supply.”

According to Walker, there will be no ads in the game; Valve hopes money to Team Fortress 2 to earn through the purchases in the ingame store to be done.
