Telenet-users complain that their isp traffic shaping on bittorrent traffic apply. Especially during peak hours, would subscribers suffering slow torrentdownloads. The provider has not yet on the complaints responded to.

Amongst other things, on GoT and on the Belgian forum of Touch.be complain Telenet subscribers since may about slow torrentdownloads. Meanwhile, the Tap.be the complaints summarized: so would the download speed at three ongoing torrents will not get higher than 200kB/s and only after 22.00 hours should be the speed up to 500kB/s increase. The full download speed would be achieved if the torrents through an encrypted connection can be acquired. Tap.be concluded on the basis thereof that Telenet is the only Belgian isp, traffic shaping will apply.

If torrentverkeer via traffic shaping is nipped in the bud, according to Tap.be not rightly that, Telenet claims of high speeds it advertises. In addition, calls the site the applying traffic shaping by definition unacceptable, because the practice goes against the principle of net neutrality. Tap.be requires Telenet openness of affairs and to see prefer that the kabelaar stops with the application of traffic shaping on its network.

Telenet has to Tweakers.net let them know that there is a response to the case being worked on. Tap.be had Monday night on his site know that the problem, according to Telenet is forwarded to network engineers.

Update 17:00: Telenet confirms in a response to Tweakers.net that the ‘engineering team’ of the kabelaar currently, indeed, tests with traffic-shaping to perform to the capacity of our network to investigate and to get the customer the best browsing experience to offer. The lower speeds that some customers experience in peer-to-peer traffic may be a result’.

Telenet says to want to see how the data traffic on its network in the most efficient way possible’ can be handled. The previously mentioned tests according to the kabelaar carried out regularly and aim to become ‘the total networking management to improve, as a result of the rapidly changing surfpatronen at our customers’.

The results of the trials would be Telenet to help the traffic management policies. Also promises the isp to get the details of his traffic-management policy to publish and to ‘refine’ if this is introduced.
