My old faithful PC began treatments to exhibit, and came sometimes and sometimes not wake from sleep. Very annoying as I function very much use. The problem was not reproduce, and it seemed completely random to act.

I suspected that the problem was related to the seven or eight year old power supply (enermax liberty 400 watt). So on Amazon.de a new ordered the Corsair RM650i.

The power supply is very quiet due to the zero rpm approach. In my modest PC, turn the fan never (not even during stress tests and benchmarks), and if I the fan itself turn on d.m.v. the supplied software (corsair link) then this is still not a herriemaker.

The power supply is also completely modular. All cables are finished in black plastic. Also is the power supply with a button on the back which you can test whether the fan of the lwa berhaupt does.

The corsair link software reads neatly out how many watts from the outlet is drawn and how many there ultimately to the components of the PC is delivered. Also is indicated what the speed vnom efficiency at a certain power. Using the software, you can also use the multi-rail mode on and off.

Personally, I find the software a valuable addition. It makes the functioning and opportunities of the diet are very insightful.

Idle system:

The various values can be read via a usb cable that runs from the back of the psu to a usb header on my motherboard. The software is further to taste to personalize with a photo of your own system.

At this time, the power supply is somewhat overkill but in the long term I want a motherboard, processor and video card upgrade so I have plenty of leeway in regard to that.
The advantage currently is that the power supply does not exceed the 300 watt true in terms of delivered power and the fan so never turns on. Quiet so

So see eea there from at maximum load, after half an hour with Heaven Benchmark (case fans at 5 volts):

The noise level of the system (ten cm in front of the cabinet, a fractal design define R5):

You can get the output of the various sensors also keep track by logging.

That output looks then like this:

It should be noted that I have used only the values of the video card is capable of reading and not the other selected sensors. The software works in this respect (yet) as it should.

For what concerns the fan of the power supply: You can also choose to have the fan always at a minimum level to run. Separate to this is that the number of RPM in that case is not lower can be set over 40% of the maximum RPM. Hereby I must mention that the difference between 0 RPM and 40% RPM in terms of noise level hardly different from each other.

For what it’s worth: Corsair has decided to give rise to all sorts of forum discussions also, this line of power supplies with capacitors of japanese manufacture. This is in contrast to the RM power supplies which chinese capacitors on board. There is a seven-year warranty on the power supply, two years more than the power supplies from the RM line.

All in all very satisfied about this product.
