Intel shows performance prototype Broadwell tablet with a Core M 5Y70 processor

Dell has during the opening keynote of IDF a tablet with a Broadwell 5Y10-processor will be shown, but Intel has Dell with a prototype afgetroefd: the company showed a more powerful tablet with their flagship Core M processor.

The processor in the prototypes is the same as that in the laptops used to be that various manufacturers during the IFA trade show in Berlin have shown. In the tablet is Intel’s Broadwell chip, the Core M 5Y70: the most powerful model of the new generation of 14nm processors. Passive cooling of the processor in the tablet as possible, experimented on Intel with various materials for the housing of the tablets. The latter, according to one of the Intel employees are the ‘gold standard’ for tablets, was made because gold is a better heat conductivity than other materials.

The tablets were not only shown, but there could also be benchmarks to be run. Because the 5Y70-soc’s within a tdp of 4.5 W, can benchmarks differ as they are turned frequently. A warmed soc and housing will be less room for the turbo. From the benchmarks showed the Broadwell-processor a score 2.67 points in the cpu test of Cinebench R11.5. The 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited was with 50.439 points completed and in Cloud Gate were 522 points dropped. This is the Core M 5Y70 is considerably faster than other tablet soc’s and also, for example, the Core processors in the U series with higher tdp’s, which for ultrabooks and the Surface Pro be used.

The tablets with gold coating and the copper version will the stores do not pick up, but derivatives of the aluminium model would need to be built. Intel’s prototype weighed in at 684 grams and is 7.4 mm thick. In addition to the Core M 5Y70 processor, the tablet on a 34Wh battery and a 12.5″display.
