The desk version of the popular sandbox game Minecraft is more sold than Windows and OS X version. That has Patrick Geuder, data analyst for Mojang, announced on Twitter. In total is Minecraft on all platforms distributed nearly 54 million sold.

That the sales of the system console versions over the pc and Mac protrude, is pretty unique. The game was originally only available for Windows and OS X and obtained with versions for those platforms also his immense popularity. How many times Minecraft exactly each platform is sold, is not known. Mojang, developer of Minecraft, has on his website just a meters showing the number of sales of the Windows – and OS X-version. That number is at the time of writing almost at 15.8 million.

It is likely that the number of copies sold of Minecraft on consoles the upcoming time to a large extent continues to grow. This is mainly because the game around August for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PlayStation Vita will appear. Currently, Minecraft is available on Windows, OS X, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iOS and Android. The studio behind Minecraft took in 2013 to 92 million euro on the game.
