After 17 years, id Software is working, leave Todd Hollenshead the studio. Hollenshead, with a characteristic long tail, was ceo until the studio in 2009 by publisher Bethesda was bought out. After that, he was president of the company behind Wolfenstein, Doom and Quake.

“After many years with the studio, Todd Hollenshead decided to id Software to leave”, reports Bethesda spokesperson Pete Hines to IGN. “While Todd was not part of the development team, he was an integral part of the success of id Software, as business leader of the studio. We wish him all the best.”

Hollenshead, a former tax consultant, joined id Software in service around the time that the studio is the first edition of Quake delivered. As the chief executive officer, he would often, as the voice of the company occur. He was usually a presenter during the annual fanbeurs QuakeCon. The role of Hollenshead changed when id Software in 2009, it was bought by publisher Bethesda. He got after the title president.

It is not clear whether the departure of Hollenshead related to the measures that Bethesda at the end of 2011 took. The publisher carried out a reorganization in the id, after it appeared that the development of Doom 4 is not expected to be smooth. The team that just before shooter Rage had delivered was merged with the team to Doom 4 works. The joint team was of Bethesda to start again with the development of Doom 4.
