Provider free mobile internet ClearWire

FreedomPop, a company that offers free mobile internet in the US is going to offer, has concluded an agreement with the wireless isp Clearwire. Previously wanted to FreedomPop to work with Lightsquared, but this deal is afgeketst.

The start-up FreedomPop is, among others, founded by Niklas Zennstrom, best known as the co-founder of Skype and Kazaa. The company says that the mobile internet market wants to break open by it a free service to consumers to to to offer. FreedomPop goes according to Forbes the freemium model handling. In addition, users have free access to the internet to see ads, that fee will disappear. Presumably, subscribers will also have higher speeds.

Initially chose FreedomPop for Lightsquared. This company is, however, a lot of the problems come because the FCC recently the license used. The problem would sit in the chosen technique of Lightsquareds hybrid network. The company wanted to have a nationwide lte network that uses the ‘L-band’, frequentieblokken which satellites are assigned. From measurements of the FCC would, however, have shown that devices such as gps receivers suffer from interference if the Lightsquared network is activated. Lightsquared says the problem can solve, but whether the company will succeed is still unknown.

Meanwhile, FreedomPop decided to go with Clearwire, reports Cnet. Clearwire offers in the U.S. wimax, but it does just as its competitors are switching to lte. This must be a costly lte network build.

FreedomPop expects this summer to start. Users need to have specific equipment to use a 4g connection to make: a dongle, a hotspot module and a not yet announced device. Users must pay a deposit of $ 29 pay, according to Freedompop needed to combat abuse.
