Science and art were for Leonardo da Vinci. Actually, it all belonged together for him. He was curious, wanted to understand the world and left his scientific findings into his art. Even as a child, he sat with a book in front of the door, watching the clouds, and recorded what he saw. As an adult, he dissected corpses secretly, in order to expand his Knowledge of physique, muscles, joints and proportions.

From the province to the vibrant Florence

Was born Leonardo, on 15. April 1452 in Anchiano, a Hamlet of the municipality of Vinci in Tuscany. His parents, a notary public, and a 16-year-old maid, were not married. Leonardo grew up, therefore, in the case of his grandfather and signed. He managed, as an apprentice in the workshop of the famous sculptor Andrea del Verrocchio. This completed the orders for the Medici, a merchant and banker family, which controlled Florence through the centuries with their Power and their money.

A Revolution in portrait painting

Leonardo da Vinci, received in the higher circles, and was a Guild member of the Luke, the Florentine artists ‘ Association. He painted in the peace and quiet of portraits and Madonnas images. He built bridges and designed a whole city. Most of his ideas, however, were never realized.
