“Berlin is like Uhu glue: Who comes here, stays here,” laughs Barbara Saltmann. The Jamaican woman operates since the age of eleven, a Restaurant in Berlin. Together with the city magazine “tip Berlin” in front of the DW in a Multimedia special 50 close-UPS of 50 Berliners from all over the world that operate with courage and business acumen, Restaurants, designer shops, delicatessen shops, factories, or galleries in their new home city. The “world travel guide takes you” to a Latin-American dance school, to a Tunisian Rug shop or a Peruvian Fusion Restaurant.
“In these times, it is very important to understand that diversity enriches. And that people from many different cultures, this city and this country forward,” said DW Director General Peter Limbourg, at the presentation of the project “Planet Berlin” on 20. May 2019 in the market hall 9 in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

“As Schwabe in Berlin, I had a pretzel-supply problem. It has solved not someone from Schwäbisch Hall, but Oren Dror from Tel Aviv,” said Rolf Rische, DW-head of Department for culture and life, about his discovery of the “BrezelBar” and the idea for the book and multimedia project. “Planet Berlin” is the successor of 50 kitchens, a home. The book and multimedia project in 2017 presented the DW together with the Go City Media publisher of the city magazine “tip Berlin” 50 international Restaurants in Berlin.
