Of Serbia head of government Ana Brnabić the DW for an Interview and will not be treated with kid gloves. The Echo speaks for itself. Because the Serbian audience is the real “Hard Talk”, not in the usual way.

The solidarity front in the home. “The naughty and unerzogene Journalist has left no stone unturned to provoke the Prime Minister! From your answers, ashamed of himself, he lowered his head.” So gripping the Belgrade tabloid “Alo headlined!” his report on the appearance of the Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabić in “Conflict Zone,” the TV Interview Format, the Deutsche Welle on Wednesday.

“The head of government of Serbia showed a never-before-seen valor”, jumped the state tradition of the newspaper “Politika” the head of government. “Ana’s way of blowing the German journalists”, sounded even the Online-Portal “Republika” on the appearance Brnabics’ in the DW.

“Insolent and ill-bred” is supposed to be the Journalist Tim Sebastian, known for his Hard Talk interview. In the hate sheet which is full of the “Informer” was the Briton as CNN Journalist – an obvious confusion with the BBC, for the Sebastian long years as a Journalist, worked. But such trifles the government to take care of loyal journalists in Serbia, little DW, CNN, BBC, the be anyway, provocateurs, everything, so the General Tenor.

“With all of the questions failed”

The Interview, published in DW-Serbian full-length, hit high waves in the Public, and also in the network. Not because Brnabić quote delivered Mature Statements, but because the Serbian audience knows in its own largely conformist media was critical Interviews such as those of Sebastian.

In the West, educated, independent, lesbian: Ana Brnabic started as a political bearer of hope in Serbia

“This is your red line, is it?” he asked several times when it became clear that the Serbian head of government is still not willing to describe the massacre of Bosnian Muslims in Srebrenica in 1995 as a “genocide”. “A terrible, terrible crime” had been said Brnabić, and remained on the line that represented all of the previous governments in Serbia.

Brnabić even claimed that Serbia was in the ex-Yugoslav space “is by far the best example of how to deal with war crimes”. A rating can only understand a few. “Almost half of the interview was dedicated to the war crimes, because this is an important issue for Serbia and the Region. Ana Brnabić failed in all the issues,” tweeted the Serbian human rights activist Anita Mitić.

This Brnabić appeared to be formed in the West, independent, and openly lesbian – many as a political bearer of hope when she was elected in June of last year to the Prime Minister. But she adapted to the style of government of the Almighty, the progressive party, and President Aleksandar Vučić quickly.

Vučić, a few years ago, a staunch Nationalist, who has discovered his fondness for the EU is only late, ruled the Balkan country for the past six years with an iron Hand and is considered the epitome of a “stable democracy”. So the Balkans are called the Regime in which the EU puts stability before democracy.

“Can I say something?”

“Why are referred to in Serbia-critical journalists as traitors and foreign agents?”, Sebastian asked. And: “when the policy of the judiciary from the stranglehold?” Questions such as these, which put Sebastian in his typically stubborn style, with emphasis, made him a new enemy and a target for government-loyal media. “Can I say something, or you want to interview yourself?”, countered Brnabic and harvested for medial applause in the home.

Praise for the Hard Talk, the presenter came mainly from opposition politicians and from the network. In addition to some circulation weak Newspapers and cable channels, the social networks are the only remaining room for political criticism in Serbia.

The Interview was a proof, “that there is no democracy without free media and professional journalists. We also need you here in Serbia“, said Dragan Đilas, the former mayor of Belgrade, who leads today the strongest opposition Alliance. The interview with the DW have shown that the government have no political perspective.

Savior before the state bankrupt?

A Nachrecherche of some of the statements of the Serbian Minister-President by DW-Serbian raise doubts about their factual representation. For example, Brnabic praised her government and the progress party to have the country from bankruptcy, saved. Serbia is today the world champion in Attracting foreign investors. Such interpretations are circulating almost on a daily basis in Serbia and are mostly fictitious.

The facts-Check gives a very different picture: in 2012, the country was deeply in debt with 17.6 billion euros – today there are six billion more. The world Bank lists more than 50 countries have attracted in the last year more and more foreign investment than Serbia, including Ghana, Ethiopia and Peru.

The twisting of facts is critical political observers in Serbia as the “king discipline” of the strong man in Belgrade, Aleksandar Vučić. With your DW-Interview at the “Conflict Zone” delivered Ana Brnabić however, an application for a place in this discipline, tweeted one critic. “She’s not just a hanger-on, but also the perpetrator.”
