The Dutch TomTom will provide more detailed maps for use in the self-propelled cars of Volkswagen. According to the company has a self-propelled car, more details about, for example, traffic lights, and should that info is always up-to-date.

TomTom says that the cards for self-propelled cars, for example, more details require lane markings, but probably refers to the company also on up-to-date information about road closures and other matters of importance if the user is not behind the wheel.

To those cards to make TomTom and Volkswagen concluded a cooperation agreement. TomTom will only the info and the cards provide, but has no further influence on the software of the self-propelled cars. Volkswagen will create cars under the name, Highly Automated Driving.

The collaboration is a new step for TomTom, that is increasingly less dependent on trying to create turn-by-turn navigation. In addition to that navigation provides the information to Apple for its Maps application and makes the sport watches.
