The popular indie game Awesomenauts is now also available for Linux. The game last year was first released on the Xbox 360, as Xbox Live Arcade game, and was then ported to Windows and and to Mac. So now is Linux’s turn.

The Dutch developer of the game, Ronimo Games, called all Linux users are very welcome via a tweet, earlier the publisher via Twitter to let me know that there was work on a Linux port. Windows, Mac, and Linux users can get together to play online. The game is available on Steam and on the site of Ronimo Games themselves. It is also in the latest Humble Bundle included.

Awesomenauts is a colorful, two-dimensional game with a strategic flair. The game looks like an old-fashioned 2d platformer, but plays more like a moba. That genre is mainly known for the Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients, or Dota. The Dutch Ronimo Games is playing with Awesomenauts in on the popularity of the genre, but with the two-dimensional variant a distinct twist to it.
