Qualcomm brings quadcore-ontwikkelaarstablet off for 1300 dollars

Qualcomm has a new tablet with the newest quad-core-soc released. The Android tablet, which is part of Qualcomms mobile development platform, has a resolution of 1280×800 pixels, is intended for developers and will cost 1300 dollars.

The APQ8064 is Qualcomms first quadcore system on a chip and consists of four Krait cores at 1.5 GHz and the Adreno 320 gpu. The APQ8064 does not have built-in radiohardware and is intended for use in tablets. While there are already companies with smartphones based on the new chip, including LG.

In addition to the new soc has the mdp on a fingerprint reader, a physical home button, two micro usb ports, a micro-sd card reader and a 13-megapixel camera with flash. The 10,1″tablet runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich; or there is also an update coming to Jelly Bean is not yet known. Interested parties can take the tablet on the website of distributor Bsquare ordering for 1299 dollars.

Benchmarks

From the benchmarks, amongst other AnandTech and Slashgear is that the APQ8064 faster than its two direct competitors, Samsung’s Exynos 4412 and Nvidia’s Tegra 3.

The offscreen benchmark of GLBenchmark shows the raw graphics performance of the new Adreno 320 gpu. Apart from the PowerVR chip in Apple’s latest iPad know Qualcomms new quad-core the competition behind. The difference with the old Adreno 225, which in the One S is used, is very large.
