Minister Donner is going to cut down the number of gov sites because a large part of them do not comply with the web guidelines. The deletion of sites and Rijksoverheid.nl host would be cheaper than customizing.

The ministries of the Dutch government together have about 400 websites, in which there are 60 tested is whether or not they conform to the web guidelines. Only 20 conform completely to those guidelines. The web guidelines are intended to ensure that people with different types of systems the gov sites to be able to see. They should also be accessible to people with disabilities. There is among other things to the toetsenbordtoegankelijkheid, scalability of font size, findability by search engines and readability without style sheets.

It is unclear how many of the non-reviewed government sites meet the guidelines, but it is clear that the ministries long after the decision on the Quality Rijksoverheidswebsites 2006 meeting, the purpose of which was to get all the websites of the central government at the end of 2010, to the accessibility requirements.

All sites customize see minister Donner of Home Affairs. “As expected, this would be a costly and lengthy operation lead. A significantly more effective solution is to clean up the number of websites of the government and, where possible, and relevant host of the content of independent websites in the site rijksoverheid.nl” writes the minister.

Previously, we showed that municipalities greatly lagging behind with the adaptation of their sites to the web guidelines. They have until 1 January 2015 to provide full support to carry through, then the government will not further specified ‘obligations’ to impose, set Donner.
