“Eidos Montreal announces new game engine”

Developer Eidos Montreal has a new game engine announced. The studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Thief reports that the so-called Dawn Engine is designed specifically for the pc and the latest generation of consoles.

Dawn Engine would be a heavily modified version of the Glacier 2 engine of IO Interactive. Eidos Montreal writes that usually the existing engines was familiar, but the capabilities of the company were therefore “restricted”. There is, therefore, an engine is developed that meets the wishes of Eidos Montreal must meet. So claims the company that, amongst others, possibilities in the field of rendering are improved, and furthermore, it would also be possible in the field of the programming of the artificial intelligence.

The aim is to create the graphics performance of the own games with the engine to promote. In addition, also the gameplay and the storylines of a higher level. Eidos Montreal has a screenshot released to show where the engine is capable of. From the picture would not too much should be inferred, for example, the developer.

Eidos Montreal announces that the Dawn Engine is the basis for all Deus Ex Universe projects. The company will, however, still not too deep to elaborate on the projects in which it wants to go to work. However, it is clear that there are connections between the games.
