– Everyone wants peace, but it must be a peace that is based on Ukraine's terms, Kristersson told TT after participating in talks with EU leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj.
Zelenskyj participated in the summit to emphasize the importance of continued support from both the EU and the US. With the winter's looming energy crisis and ongoing Russian attacks, he made tough demands for increased deliveries of weapons and air defense systems from Western countries.
Ulf Kristersson emphasizes that “we are doing everything we can to increase our support”. Sweden has already contributed approximately 60 billion kronor to the war.
The Prime Minister also commented on discussions about a possible peacekeeping force in Ukraine, but dismissed Swedish involvement before a peace agreement is in place.
The meeting resulted in the EU working for peace on “Ukraine's terms”. The EU's joint statement from the meeting strongly condemned Russia's war of aggression and underlined the importance of “urgently increasing efforts, especially when it comes to the delivery of air defense systems, ammunition and missiles”, writes TT.
