Foreign. The former NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg has received another prestigious assignment. Shortly after resigning as Secretary General of NATO on 1 October, he has now been appointed co-chairman of the light-hearted Bilderberg group.

– Combined with the Munich Security Conference is this a good platform for collaborating with leaders in politics, business and academia. It is also an important meeting place to strengthen the ties between Europe and the United States, says Stoltenberg in a comment to Dagens Næringsliv.
The Bilderberg meeting annually brings together 120 to 150 hand-picked global power holders, who now and then have the opportunity to talk to each other on important issues without access from the public or the media.
Together with the philanthropist Marie-Josée Kravis, chairman of the American Friends of Bilderberg Inc, Stoltenberg will lead the steering committee of the exclusive network.
The Bilderberg meetings have been arranged annually since 1954. The discussions take place under the so-called “Chatham House Rule”, which means that the participants may not reveal what was said or by whom.
< p>This year's meeting, held in late May and early June, covered themes such as AI, economic challenges, climate, Ukraine, the Middle East, China and Russia. Stoltenberg has been part of the group's steering committee since before.
Jens Stoltenberg was also recently appointed leader of the international security conference in Munich.
